Mobility in new ways

In pilot-series development, motor racing and for small batches, the laser fusing process has been able to establish itself as the process of choice in the automotive industry.

The considerable increase in assembly speeds is now also opening up batch sizes in the mid-range segment. Generative technologies have arrived in industrial series production in the automotive industry.

There is still great potential for the industry in the areas of lightweight construction, saving resources, faster model changes, new manufacturing concepts or model variations, to highlight just a few key terms.

The digital process chain is also opening up new strategies for documentation and quality assurance. The laser fusing process is thus creating crucial momentum for the “Industry 4.0 strategy”, and is helping manufacturers to better achieve their sustainability targets.

There are further opportunities looming on the horizon: JIS (just-in-sequence manufacturing), consistent lightweight construction of entire automobile structures or cars of the future that could be individualised.

An industry is branching out into the exciting world of 3D printing, because there are good arguments for doing things differently.
